John E. Sarno - sylwetka autora
Professor John Ernest Sarno Jr., an American physician of Italian descent, made significant contributions to the field of medicine. Born in New York City, he served in the US Army in Europe during World War II. He graduated in medicine from Columbia University and specialized in rehabilitation. For many years, he was affiliated with the University Medical Center at the Rusk Institute. Sarno is renowned for coining the term TMS, which stands for Tension Myositis Syndrome. Among his notable patients were radio journalist Howard Stern and actress Anne Bancroft. John E. Sarno passed away just one day before his 94th birthday.
Sarno authored several influential books, including "Mind Over Back Pain" published in 1982, which was released in Poland as "Recepta na zdrowie" by IFC Press in 2005. Other important titles include "Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection" from 1991 and "The Divided Mind: The Epidemic of Mindbody Disorders" published in 2006.
In his personal life, Sarno was married twice. His first marriage was to Penny Patt, which ended in divorce in 1966, and they had a daughter named Christina.
